DeviantArt Gallery Downloader
Paste one link to a public gallery, folder or favourites collection and save the works it exposes in a single run — up to about 15 files at a time — instead of opening dozens of pages one by one. Below the tool is the part most downloaders skip: why bulk saves come back short, what Sta.sh has to do with it, and the weekly count DeviantArt puts on its own download arrow.
Three Things People Call a Gallery
Most failed runs start with the wrong link. These three areas look alike in the site navigation and behave nothing alike from the outside.
Gallery
Everything the artist has published. Each work is a deviation with its own page, and folders inside a gallery split it by theme.
This is what this page reads — paste a gallery or folder link.
Favourites
Art a user saved from other artists. Public collections often, but anyone can hide their favourites from visitors.
Works when the collection is public. Use the /favourites URL spelling — /favorites is not accepted.
Sta.sh
Upload storage, not a gallery. Files sit here until the artist submits them, and a free account holds 2GB of them.
Not reachable — unpublished uploads have no public page to fetch.
DeviantArt Limits Its Own Download Button — Weekly
If you have been clicking the arrow under each image, this is the reason the eleventh one refused. The caps come from DeviantArt's help centre, and they apply to public, published downloads only.
Premium downloads, subscription content and anything sitting in Sta.sh fall outside those numbers — they are counted, gated or unpublished files rather than public downloads.
Five Reasons a Bulk Save Stops Halfway
None of these are a broken tool. Each one is DeviantArt's own structure getting in the way, and knowing which you hit tells you what to paste instead.
A Folder Holds Sub-Folders
Galleries nest. A folder can contain both loose works and other folders, and the nested ones sit one or two clicks deeper. A bulk pass that only reads the top level returns a short list and looks like it failed. Paste the deepest folder you actually want, not the gallery root.
One Tile Is Not One File
DeviantArt lets an artist put up to 10 images inside a single deviation, and Core members up to 100. A grid of 200 tiles can therefore be 200 separate posts or several hundred files — the count you expect and the count you get are not always the same number.
The Artist Switched the Original Off
DeviantArt's submission form has a checkbox under the Fullview Size section called "Allow download of original (full-sized) image". Un-tick it and the upload is never published to the post page, so the largest thing any tool can read is the display rendition. Nothing here overrides that switch.
Mature and Restricted Work
Age-gated pieces need an account with the right settings before the post shows anything. A tool that is not logged in as that account is handed a wall, not a picture, and those works come back missing from an otherwise complete run.
The Gallery Is Simply Large
A single run returns up to about 15 public files from the gallery, folder or favourites list you pasted — as separate downloads, not one zip. Collections with hundreds of works will not finish in one pass; paste a deeper folder, or run again as newer pieces rise to the top of the listing.
Keeping a Backup That Stays Traceable
A collection of files with no record of where each came from is worthless a month later. Two artists can publish works under the same title, and the same artist can post three pieces with identical names — only the number at the end of the URL tells them apart.
Keep that number in the filename and you can always point back to the exact post: who made it, when it went up, and which version you saved. It also keeps the credit visible when you show the reference to someone else. Saving files for your own use and republishing them are different things, and the artist's terms decide the second one, not the fact that the file arrived on your drive.
One Work, or the Whole Collection?
Two different jobs, two pages. If you have a link to a single piece, use the image downloader — it explains which copy of that artwork you receive and why a transparent file sometimes opens on a black background. For video posts, the video download page covers what the MP4 actually contains. And if you want the save-button behaviour walked through browser by browser, the how-to page has that.
Questions People Ask First
Can I download a whole DeviantArt gallery at once?
A public gallery, folder or favourites link starts a bulk run and returns the recent public works that listing exposes — currently up to about 15 files per run, each as its own download rather than a zip. Nested folders need their own link, and Sta.sh uploads are not included because they were never published.
Why does DeviantArt's own download button stop after a few images?
Because the site caps it, not because your browser failed. Free and Core Basic accounts get 10 free downloads a week from that arrow; higher Core tiers get 150 or 300. Fetching the file straight from the post is how people get around a count they have already spent.
What is the difference between a gallery and Sta.sh?
A gallery is published work with a public page. Sta.sh is upload storage sitting behind the account until the artist submits it — free members keep 2GB there, Core members up to 100GB. Unsubmitted files have no public URL, so no downloader can see them.
Will I get the artist's original file?
Only when the artist leaves the original-download option switched on. Otherwise the largest public rendition is what the post exposes, and we hand that over instead of pretending otherwise.
Do I own the images once I save them?
No. DeviantArt's own help pages say it plainly: being able to download a file does not mean it belongs to you, and you should check the creator's terms of use. Artists keep copyright over their work regardless of how the file reached your drive.
One artwork, then — which page do I use?
The image downloader, for a single post link. It covers the rendition ladder — thumbnail, display, full view, original — and why a transparent PNG arrives with a black background. This page is for a collection link instead.
